In this webinar, we joined well-known Australian transport industry figure Marcus Kelly in drawing on the practical learnings from his two decades in driver training. The webinar explored how to implement driver training so it fueled an organization’s safety and economic performance, the most important factors to consider, and how attitudes towards driver training could contribute to building positive driver attitudes and an organization’s culture. Marcus Kelly believed that valuing professional drivers and ‘treating them as an asset’ was the priority for business owners and supervisors when it came to driver safety performance. Driver training reinforced that drivers’ expertise was valued, particularly when driver education was used as a tool to further develop their skills, which could be through sharing knowledge via toolbox talks, for example, on road safety topics like driver distraction.
