We’re excited to announce that applications for Phase 3 of the unsafe2safe trial program are now open.

Our unsafe2safe trial program is helping young drivers – 18 to 25 years – in regional Victoria into newer and safer vehicles.

As a valued partner, we’re seeking your support to help us communicate this important initiative to your networks.  We’ve prepared a stakeholder pack containing key messages and social media assets that you can share on your communication channels.

We’re inviting young drivers in regional Victoria to register their interest by Sunday 27 August 2023. Drivers could receive a $5,000 subsidy towards a newer and safer car, when they scrap an old one. Over the month of August, we’ll be running a campaign to encourage young drivers to register their interest to receive a subsidy.

It is an initiative delivered under the Victorian Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030 and Action Plan 2021-2023 to help reduce road trauma.

A young driver is 15 times more likely to be killed in crashes involving older vehicles than the state average. By driving a newer car, drivers reduce the risk of dying in a car crash by up to 80%.
