UnitingCare Queensland takes great care in ensuring their staff members are safe on the road. They recognise that in order to achieve a reduction of road accidents, great effort is needed to improve driver behaviour and vehicle safety.

The following Manual outlines the expectations and standards of both those driving UnitingCare (UC) vehicles, and UnitingCare Group Procurement (Fleet) responsibilities for those vehicles. For consistency in their approach to road safety, occupational health and safety, and environmental factors, these outlines have been developed in accordance with important Units and Teams throughout UnitingCare.

This document provides direction for the terms of vehicle safety, considering which types of vehicles are safe for which activities, opportunities to improve safety, driver training procedures and vehicle maintenance. Its concise, summarised approach to the maintenance of a vehicle fleet brings financial benefits, safe and responsible driving behaviours, and environmental contributions.
