The Driving Health study is a 3 year research partnership with research partners Linfox, the NSW Centre for Work Health and Safety and the Transport Workers Union – and has been supported by the National Health and Medical Research Council Partnership Project scheme.

To our knowledge it is the largest Australian-based study focused on the health and wellbeing of truck drivers. While there is a large body of research coming from North America and Europe, we believe it is critical to have evidence that represents Australian drivers working under Australian conditions.

The Driving Health study has examined multiple sources of data to inform our findings. Some of this comes from existing sources – for example more than 120,000 accepted claims for workers compensation. Some of it involves using data sources for the first time – for example 3,500 death benefit claims from the largest industry superannuation fund for workers in transport.
