Some Key Achievements:

• Funding provided through National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR)’s Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative, supported by the Federal Government, which will allow NRSPP to deliver these Special Projects:

  • Construction Logistics and Safety – Australia (CLOCS-A)
  • Heavy Vehicle Tool Box Talk

• NRSPP made submissions to:

  • Draft National Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030 Submission Number 92

  • Draft National Road Safety Action Plan – refer to Attachment 1

  • Joint Select Committee Inquiry into Road Safety Submission Number 21

• The NRSPP was called as an expert witness in late September to the Joint Select Committee and was represented by Program Director, Jerome Carslake, and MUARC Quality Manager, Associate Professor Sharon Newnam.

• In the past 12 months, NRSPP webinar presence has significantly grown:

  • NRSPP delivered nine webinars with our partners such as Case Studies on BINGO Industries, Grasshopper Environmental and Sutherland Shire Council and our towing trip ready panel.

  • Program Director Jerome Carslake participated in six webinars on workplace road safety through RACV, IPEWA, TfNSW, Bulk Tanker Association of Australia, LGPro and ANZSOM.

  • NRSPP conducted six of our previous webinars for ComfortDelGro Australia drivers on Aggression, Sleep/Fatigue and Mindfulness as part of October’s Safe Work Month.

• The Australasian Road Safety Conference 2021 (ARSC2021) was entirely virtually this year with NRSPP involved in:

  • Empowr Symposium: Creating opportunity for people who can’t access safe mobility and making it a reality

  • Construction Logistics and Community Safety Australia (CLOCS-A): Progress Towards Safer Outcomes for Vulnerable Road Users

  • Plenary 4: Translating research into practice: workplace road safety

  • Symposium: Creating the business case for a true system for organisations through safety, environment and efficiency, and

  • Daniel Brain Wins NRSPP ARSC2021 Workplace Road Safety Best Paper for ‘Consignors of import containers play a critical role’ — watch out for the webinar and Thought Leadership paper in 2022.

• Transport for NSW won the prestigious 2021 3M-ACRS Diamond Road Safety Award for their Road Safety in Your Workplace program, the collaboration behind this project included Essential Energy, NSW State Insurance Regulatory Authority and linking to NRSPP Tool Box Talks.

• The Austroads/NRSPP collaborative project Prevention of Suicide in Road Transport involved over 100 partners and has been submitted to Austroads and is set to be published in early 2022.

• NRSPP produced a record number of new materials this year updating a number of Tool Box Talks, Quick Facts, Fact Sheets, Case Studies and Webinars.
