2013 Major Accident Investigation Report for Heavy Vehicles
Some of the more significant highlights include:
- The war is being won on Heavy Vehicle driver Fatigue, but don’t relax. NSW has had a great result
- B-Doubles are consistently safer than smaller articulated combinations
- The mining States are seeing a greater number of major accidents as their very significant freight task increases, and
- The Hume duplication, though not quite completed, in Vic and NSW has seen major insured incidents decrease by a factor of four (12% to 3%) over the last 8 years. Infrastructure does play a freight safety role.
