Participate in a heavy vehicle survey

Researchers at La Trobe University and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) are conducting a study about preventing Musculoskeletal and Mental Health Disorders in the Heavy Vehicle Road Transport (HVRT) industry.

You are invited to participate if you:

  • Are a Supervisor, Superintendent, or Manager working in the HVRT industry, and
  • Have workers directly reporting to you, and
  • Are over 18 years of age, and
  • Are able to read English.

Why are we conducting this study?

There is a high prevalence of Musculoskeletal and/or Mental Health Disorders (MSDs and/or MHDs) in truck drivers working in the Australian HVRT industry. Much research has been completed on preventing road crashes in transport, but there is a lack of research about preventing health disorders such as MSDs and MHDs that develop over time.

What is the study about?

Psychosocial hazards are known to contribute to the development of both MSDs and MHDs. Supervisors, Superintendents and Managers play a key role in addressing these hazards, but need tailored, practical, evidence-based resources to support them to do so.

In consultation with a group of Supervisors, Superintendents and Managers working in the HVRT industry, we’ve developed such resources. We now want to ensure the resources are suitable and meet the needs of these stakeholders. And so we are seeking Supervisors, Superintendents and Managers currently working in this industry to review and provide feedback regarding these resources.

What participants will be asked to do
