South Australian Department of Transport – Road Safety

Achieving a major reduction in road trauma requires a unified approach between governments, industries, communities and road users. Together we have achieved the greatest improvement in fatalities of any State or Territory since 2003.

As we head towards our 2020 targets to reduce serious casualties during the decade by at least 30% – to less than 80 fatalities and less than 800 serious injuries per year, direction, engagement and participation is critical.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, Police, the Motor Accident Commission, Local Government, the transport, health and education sectors, the Centre for Automotive Safety Research, RAA and community road safety groups all have an important role to play.
