Farewell to Khyati and Marama
Another 12 months flies by and with it comes the creative transition of NRSPP’s Swinburne University intern.
NRSPP farewells Khyati Chandarana and Marama Amity and will be welcoming new interns in the coming weeks.
“I am immensely grateful for the experience and opportunity at NRSPP. Throughout my time here, I have gained invaluable communication and design skills. This journey has been exceptionally rewarding, allowing me to use my talents to drive change in the road safety industry. NRSPP has truly been the stepping stone to kickstart my career.
The warm and welcoming work culture, championed by Jerome, and the helpful and supportive colleagues at both Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) and NRSPP have made this experience incredibly special and fulfilling. A special thanks to Marama for always being there and being immensely helpful throughout this journey.” says Khyati.
“As my time at the NRSPP comes to a close I reflect on the experiences I’ve had here. The NRSPP has been a genuinely incredible place to begin my design career, and has helped me grow from a young design student to an informed, experienced, and proud designer. MUARC and the NRSPP have provided challenges and opportunities to push myself in a supportive environment, allowing me to contribute to a report in collaboration with a specialist insurance provider and co-create a road safety campaign that has been distributed and used internationally.
Together Khyati and I were given the task of creating our “Are You Roadworthy?” road safety campaign, where we were able to lead and manage the research, design, and steering of this campaign, receiving input from external professional stakeholders in various related industries including academia, road safety, and design.” says Marama
“One of the highlights of my internship was leading the “Are You Roadworthy?” campaign. It was truly fulfilling for Marama and me to apply our project management and design skills to bring this important issue to light. We have received some great feedback and comments not only from Australia but also from overseas, and it feels deeply rewarding to be part of something so important.
The process was amazing, as we built numerous connections and garnered substantial support from various partners. Leading this project helped me grow and understand the intricacies of designing a successful campaign. Sharing our knowledge and creating change in the industry is an experience I will always cherish. Being a part of this team and contributing to such impactful work is something I will always be profoundly grateful for.
Thank you all for everything, and remember: Safety on the road starts with you.” says Khyati.
“The 2024 Major Incident Investigation Report has been produced as part of an Australian first collaboration between MUARC, the NRSPP, and specialist insurance provider NTI. I had the opportunity to independently design the report that was distributed nationwide and provided invaluable information to professional heavy vehicle companies around the country.
My time at the NRSPP couldn’t have been the amazing opportunity it was without the support and collaboration of Khyati and Jerome, with Khyati always providing innovative design ideas and creative advice. Jerome was a guiding hand when needed and a massive support during any time of need, while remaining a steadfast source of advice and help.
I’ll miss the NRSPP and MUARC, and I appreciate the opportunity I’ve had to grow as a designer and as a professional. Thank you.” says Marama Amity
