Hear what local governments in New Zealand, NSW, VIC, and WA are doing to manage speed in their communities.

Speed is a contributing factor in the severity of all road traffic crashes. Come along to this one-hour webinar to hear what local governments in New Zealand, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia are doing to manage speed and improve road safety outcomes for their local communities. Our four guest speakers will discuss policy and infrastructure improvements as well as a behaviour change program that is coupled with Police enforcement.

Hear from New Zealand Transport Agency (Waka Kotahi), Goulburn Mulwaree Council, Mornington Peninsula Shire Council and Main Roads Western Australia.

  • Waka Kotahi will discuss New Zealand’s new Speed Management Guide as well as the work Area Programme Managers are doing with local authorities using proven safe system infrastructure and speed management practices.
  • Goulburn Mulwaree Council will present a case study of a local speed project that uses speed monitor trailers and partners with NSW Police.
  • Mornington Peninsula Shire Council will provide an overview of their ‘Safer Speeds on Rural Roads’ project which saw the speed limit on 33 high-risk rural roads changed to 80 km/h.
  • Main Roads WA will discuss their ‘Low Cost Urban Road Safety Program’ which installs low-cost road safety treatments on local roads and intersections.
