This webinar will present an overview and the results of the recently completed Emerging Technologies Driver Monitoring Project: Eyes on Fatigue research conducted within the heavy vehicle transport and logistics sector. This project was a joint initiative involving the Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC), the Queensland Trucking Association, In Cabin Technology Providers and 11 transport and logistics organisations and their drivers. The aim of this research was to undertake a preliminary study to provide insight into and determine the effectiveness of in cabin driver monitoring technology to reduce driver distraction, inattention, and fatigue in a real world heavy vehicle transport operations. The results and practical implications of this research will be discussed.

 Dr Darren Wishart is a Senior Lecturer in Organisational Psychology and Director of the Work and Organisational Resilience Centre within the School of Applied Psychology at Griffith University. Along with lecturing in Organisational Psychology, Dr Wishart’s research is primarily within the work driving safety area, assisting organisations in driver behaviour change and reducing the frequency and severity of crashes in organisational vehicle fleets. He also conducts research in motorcycle safety and has almost two decades of experience in road safety research with a particular focus on transferring research knowledge into practical industry application. Dr Wishart is a registered psychologist and is an accomplished public speaker and workshop facilitator delivering numerous seminars, workshops and public speaking engagements on work related road safety and motorcycle safety both nationally and internationally.
