    Accident Analysis and Prevention

    Accident Analysis & Prevention provides wide coverage of the general areas relating to accidental injury and damage, including the pre-injury and immediate post-injury phases. Published papers deal with medical, legal, economic, educational, behavioral, theoretical or empirical aspects of transportation accidents, as well as with accidents at other sites. Selected topics within the scope of the Journal may include: studies of human, environmental and vehicular factors influencing the occurrence, type and severity of accidents and injury; the design, implementation and evaluation of countermeasures; biomechanics of impact and human tolerance limits to injury; modelling and statistical analysis of accident data; policy, planning and decision-making in safety.

    National Heavy Vehicle Regulator

    The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is Australia’s first national, independent Regulator for all vehicles over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass.

    It will currently manage National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme accreditations and Performance-Based Standards Scheme design and vehicle approvals nationally.

    Later in 2013, NHVR will administer one set of laws for heavy vehicles under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), delivering a comprehensive range of services under a consistent regulatory framework.

    One regulator under one rule book will:

    • reduce duplication and inconsistencies across state and territory borders.
    • cut costs, red tape and confusion
    • deliver even safer and more efficient operations
    • boost innovation
    • help unlock estimated productivity gains of up to $12.4 billion over the next 20 years.
